Yesterday my family went to Washington Park. I took along the tripod and took a few pictures. I did the same thing last week, the week before that, etc. This time was a little bit weird though. Normally I get one or two great images and a few decent ones. This time I got a lot of ones that I liked. Hopefully this means I am getting better. That or the weather just happened to be better.
I have noticed that my photos tend to be better when it is sunny (you can compare the two barn pictures to see why I like the sun) and when there are clouds in the sky but not enough to cover up the object I'm trying to take a picture of. I want the object lit up, and I don't want a boring sky since it tends to be quite a bit of my picture. This was what the weather was like yesterday.
I also have found a better and quicker way to take pictures than I did before. I used to take a shot with exposure bracketing and then go back and take one manually adjusting the exposure to the extremes. This took a number of minutes for each shot. I normally used the manually done ones since they were more diverse, but then I couldn't take pictures of anything that moved since people can't hold still for minutes at a time that well. Yesterday I noticed I could manually adjust the exposure to make a single photo look good and then use bracketing from there. That way I set where the center of the bracketing is making it so I don't have to manually take it. That is how I took some photos with people in it (since it only takes a few seconds for them now). Thus, I am getting better methods for taking photos too.
That about sums up what I've been doing today and yesterday. You can look at the photos (or some of them) that I took if you want: Washington Park Photos.
