Violin
As some of you may know, I play the violin. I started playing the violin back around 1999 (AD). I didn't like it up till a few years ago when I decided to try fiddling. I learned a few songs and enjoy it quite a bit now. To show you a little bit what I played like a few years ago, here is a video. The guy playing at the front is my brother. I play somewhere in the middle.
Hand Cooing
After 1999, I learned several other forms of music. When a friend of my parent's who can hand coo did it, I was wondering how in the world he could make that sound with just his hands. I decided to learn, and after a week or so of trying, I successfully started. For those of you who don't know what this is: hand cooing is whistling with your hands. It kind of sounds like an owl or a recorder. Some people probably wouldn't consider it that musical, but I do.
Harmonica
Quite a few years ago my grandma gave me a harmonica. I started playing it and gave up after a while since I couldn't get much beyond playing chords. A few years later I picked it up again for some reason and decided to learn it. I've heard it said that you learn a lot in the first 10 hours, and then it takes a while to learn anything more. That was true with me. I learned the basics in one day: where the notes are, how to play single notes, and how to blow bend.
After watching a few interesting guys online, I decided that to make this practical, I had to learn how to overbend. I looked it up and pretty soon found it really easy. However, I soon realized that I wasn't overbending... I was doing a draw-bend. Boy, that was disappointing. I got good at that, but then I again decided that I needed to overbend. Overbending took quite a long time to learn partially because my learning sessions were spread out over so many months, but one day I decided to sit down and try it till I got something like an overbend. After a few days learned how to do it. I'm still not all that great, but I know how to overblow on the 4, 5, and 6 holes. I still can't do overblow on the 1 or do any overdraws, but I'm working on those...
Singing
Yes, most people have a voice that they can use to sing, but I actually do sing sometimes. I tend not to love being in choirs so much. I enjoy singing with myself mostly. I record multiple tracks of me singing on the computer, go outside and lip sync to myself. That is the type of singing I enjoy most. I have been in a few choirs (mostly in school), which are fun if you get to hang out with people who sing. Fortunately, I have had the privilege of singing with people like that recently.
For a demo of me singing, here is a video:
Computerized Music
As mentioned in the Singing section (above), I like singing with myself on the computer. Most of the time I write the music I sing. I used to use Rose Garden to do this, but after a while I found that LMMS lets me do more the type of music I like.
Here is a demo of me singing with my computerized music. I also had an Auto-Tune version of this song that I liked better... (it isn't really using Auto-Tune, I used Autotalent get the effect).
Okay, now that you have watched a video... I have a bunch of music that I don't have videos for. These are just MP3 files of my music.
